These images were taken in the area of the Colusa Wildlife Refuge, part of a wide complex of refuges north of Sacramento, CA, in late January of this year. In addition to the huge number of geese, ducks and other waterfowl attracted to the area at this time of year, it is also the setting for a large variety of grasses growing in the ponds.
I was drawn to the patterns made by their reflections which create unusual graphic patterns, almost resembling hieroglyphics. Have also included a motion image taken of an orchard on the way home.
